From Exhausted to Empowered

Supportive, responsive methods that help your child learn independent sleep --
without sacraficing connection

From Surviving to Thriving: My Story

Like so many parents, I entered motherhood believing the phrase “sleep like a baby.” And then I actually had a baby — and quickly learned that this saying does not apply to every child.

About five months in, we found ourselves waking every 45 minutes to an hour all night long. We were driving hundreds (yes — literally hundreds) of miles just to get our son to nap in the car. Our days were spent in a constant brain fog, running on fumes, doing our best to survive. We truly believed this was just life now that we had a baby. We were exhausted. Overwhelmed. Barely functioning.

Sleep training quite honestly saved our life — and probably our marriage.

Within two weeks, our baby was sleeping 12 hours overnight and taking predictable, independent naps. The change was profound. Suddenly we could think clearly again. We had energy. We felt human. And for the first time in months, we felt hopeful.

I was completely sold.

That experience sparked my passion for pediatric sleep consulting. Now, I feel incredibly grateful that I get to walk alongside families who may be in that same fog — feeling stuck, desperate, and unsure what to try next. When sleep is hard, it affects everything — your child’s mood and behavior, family routines, and your own ability to show up fully as a parent.

Sleep support isn’t magic. It isn’t voodoo. It’s structured, science-backed, and it works.

And most importantly, no family should have to feel alone in it.

I support families with children ages 4 months through 10 years who are struggling with bedtime battles, night wakings, naps, early mornings, or overtired kiddos. My approach is developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed, and tailored to your family’s values — no one-size-fits-all plans.

With 5+ years of pediatric sleep consulting and 10 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I support both sleep and the emotional toll that exhaustion takes on parents. Families receive a personalized sleep plan plus three weeks of hands-on follow-up support to help them implement changes with confidence.

My goal is calmer nights, more rested days, and families who feel informed, confident, and supported.

The Science of Sleep (and Why Sleep Training Matters)

Sleep isn’t just “rest” — it’s one of the most important foundations for your child’s growth, development, and emotional wellbeing. During sleep, babies’ and children’s brains are incredibly busy. This is when learning is consolidated, emotions are processed, memories are stored, and critical hormones for growth and immune function are released. Quality sleep directly impacts:

  • Brain development and learning

  • Emotional regulation and behavior

  • Physical growth and immune health

  • Attention, mood, and resilience

Young children cycle through light sleep, deep sleep, and REM sleep multiple times each night. Just like adults, they naturally wake briefly between these cycles. The difference? Babies and toddlers haven’t yet learned how to fall back asleep on their own. That’s where sleep training comes in.

Sleep training isn’t about forcing independence or ignoring your child’s needs. At its core, it’s about teaching lifelong sleep skills — helping your child learn how to settle themselves safely and confidently when they wake, so they can move smoothly from one sleep cycle to the next.

When a child relies on external supports (rocking, feeding, pacifiers, car rides, etc.) to fall asleep, they often need those same supports every time they wake overnight. Sleep training gently bridges that gap by helping your child learn to fall asleep independently, which leads to:

  • Longer, more restorative stretches of sleep

  • Fewer night wakings

  • More predictable naps and bedtimes

  • Improved mood and daytime behavior

  • More rest (and sanity) for parents

Consistent, age-appropriate sleep also supports emotional regulation. Overtired children tend to have more meltdowns, shorter attention spans, increased anxiety, and difficulty coping with transitions. When kids are well rested, everything feels easier — for them and for you.

And parents matter too. Chronic sleep deprivation affects caregiver mental health, relationships, patience, and overall quality of life. Supporting your child’s sleep is also supporting your family system as a whole.

Simply put, sleep training provides a loving structure that allows everyone to get the rest they need to thrive.

Mission

My mission is to support families with gentle, evidence-based sleep guidance that honors connection, respects each child’s unique needs, and empowers parents with confidence—so everyone can rest, reconnect, and thrive. I provide gentle, customized sleep support that meets families where they are, while helping children learn independent sleep skills and ensure parents feel supported every step of the way.

What Does Working Together Look Like?

1

Step 1: Intake + Sleep History

You’ll complete a detailed intake so I can fully understand your child’s sleep patterns, routines, temperament, and your family’s goals.

2

Step 2: Personalized Sleep Plan

I create a customized plan tailored to your child’s development and your parenting values. This includes bedtime routines, schedules, and gentle strategies for nights and naps.

3

Step 3: Implementation + Support (3 Weeks)

This is where the real work happens — and you’re not alone. You’ll receive ongoing guidance, check-ins, and troubleshooting as you put the plan into practice.

4

Step 4: Emotional Support Along the Way

Sleep deprivation is hard. Change is hard. I provide encouragement, reassurance, and practical coaching to help parents stay grounded and confident during changes.

5

Step 5: More Rest, More Confidence

The goal: improved sleep, calmer households, and parents who feel empowered moving forward

"After the four month sleep regression, Zane was waking up every 45 minutes to an hour. I had to jump through hoops to get him to sleep- rocking him while walking , as well as singing and feeding to settle only for him to wake up in less than an hour all through the night. He was also very upset that he was waking like that. We found ourselves in unsafe sleep positions just so that we could get some sleep. I tried to Ferber him without any success. I was also so distressed with trying that method and gave up. With Kody, we were able to get him into a sleep routine and follow a sleep training method that better aligned with what I was comfortable with you. I had access to Kody most of the day and had help on demand. It was so wonderful to get the reassurance in real time. Eventually, Zane settled into his routine and has been able to fall asleep independently and stay asleep. I can’t tell you how life changing this has been for both of us- he gets to sleep, is no longer waking up angry and is more well rested. we also got our time back and are much better parents for it. I truly don’t think i would’ve been able to achieve this on my own without Kody holding my hand throughout the process."

"Kody was amazing to work  with. She understood and sympathized with our struggles and shared her knowledge during our difficult moments. She helped our youngest sleep independently throughout the whole night almost immediately. She gave great suggestions about our oldest's sleep difficulties. We are sleeping better as a whole family. My husband and I have a huge piece of time and energy back in the evenings. If you are considering the program, it is well worth the investment."
"Kody was a pleasure to work with. Our family was in what felt like sleep crisis that was affecting my health. She was quick to respond and get us in sooner than we had originally planned. She was accommodating and understanding to our unique family needs. Kody provides a warm environment to make sleep training not feel so daunting or scary. We saw results in 2 days! She normalized many of our concerns and experiences. I have already given her name out because she has changed our quality of life! We are a happy well rested family because of her!
"We went from waking every hour and feeling completely defeated to having predictable naps and full nights of sleep within two weeks. Kody met us exactly where we were...exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure. She guided us with compassion and clarity, and her plan was realistic and gentle and tailored to the needs of our family. We finally feel like ourselves again!
"We just got done with our 3 weeks with Kody and she was absolutely amazing! Our 5 month old responded so well to the sleep plan and our family has greatly benefited! We highly recommend her!!"
